Is CBD legal?

Yes, when it is processed in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill.  In 2018, Congress removed hemp from the federally controlled substance list, and stated that any hemp and hemp-derived products that contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight are considered federally legal in the United States.

CBD is legal in all 50 states but in varying degrees.  Check the laws concerning CBD in the state where you live prior to purchase.  As of the time of this typing, two states authorize CBD for medical use only.  Also, CBD legislation is subject to change as Congress and State Legislatures become more aware of the latest science regarding its benefits.  It is a good idea to stay aware of the latest legislative changes in your state going forward as acceptance of CBD evolves.  One good source for that is the US Hemp Roundtable website.   https://hempsupporter.com/

What is CBD and how does it help the human body?

CBD is short for cannabidiol and is one of many natural chemical compounds found in hemp and marijuana plants that can assist the human body’s endocannabinoid system maintain homeostasis.  Homeostasis is name of the process the body uses to keep itself in healthy operating ranges as the environment around it changes.  Take moving from a resting state to exercising for example.  Your heart and breathing rate increase, sweat builds, blood may move closer to the surface of your skin, and you may become thirsty and hungry.  These changes help maintain adequate blood flow and oxygen intake, cool the body down, and prompt the intake of water and food, all designed to keep the body systems operating in healthy ranges as it moves from a resting to an active state.   The endocannabinoid system (ECS) manages this process.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and how does it work?

The human body constantly monitors itself and when something is operating outside of the proper range, the body activates the ECS to help correct it.  The ECS is a biological system composed of three parts, Endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes.  Endocannabinoids are natural chemical compounds produced by the body that are released when the body is moving away from homeostasis.  They prompt the changes the body needs to make to bring it back into a balanced state.  Cannabinoid receptors are located throughout the central nervous system and internal organs.  They receive the endocannabinoids and produce the changes the body needs to make to bring it back into balance.  Enzymes are released when the homeostasis is reached, and they break down the endocannabinoids and the ECS is turned off.

What is the difference between Endocannabinoids created in the body and cannabinoids that come from plants?

The word “endo” is from the Greek language meaning from within or inside.  The endocannabinoids are the cannabinoids the human body produces to maintain balance.  The human body closely regulates endocannabinoids, precisely turning them on and off as needed.

Cannabinoids are found in hemp and marijuana.  Plant based cannabinoids are not regulated by the human body and have a free ranging and unique effect on each individual who consumes them.  They can linger in the body longer than endocannabinoids, and provide additional support beyond what the ECS provides to promote homeostasis.

CBD’s impact on the human body is different for each person.   It may assist in helping with anxiety, insomnia, nausea, pain, seizures, and inflammation.

What is the difference between the cannabinoids that come from hemp and marijuana plants?

The difference between the cannabinoids from hemp and marijuana is the amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC/Delta 9.)  Hemp plants are grown to contain a maximum 0.3% of THC based on the dry weight.  Any plant with a THC/Delta 9 dry weight greater than 0.3% is legally considered to be marijuana.  THC/Delta 9 is the active compound in marijuana that causes a psychoactive effect or “high” feeling.

Where are the cannabinoids in BioEase products obtained?  Hemp or marijuana?

BioEase uses hemp for its entire product line.  A third-party lab tests BioEase products and provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) that certifies and lists the contents of each product.

Is THC in BioEase products?

No for two products, and yes for one.  BioEase produces Broad Spectrum CBD, Full Spectrum CBD, and Delta 8 1: 1.

Broad Spectrum CBD is THC free.

Full Spectrum CBD has trace amounts of THC.  Far less than the amount needed to get “high.”

Delta 8 1:1 is one half THC free distillate extract and one-half THC distillate extract from Delta 8.

What is the benefit of Broad-spectrum CBD?

Broad Spectrum CBD is for those who want to benefit from the healing effects of CBD without THC.  Broad Spectrum CBD contains all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids within the hemp profile without THC.  Broad Spectrum CBD can provide relief for sore muscles, insomnia, anxiety, and depression without THC.

What is the benefit of Full Spectrum CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD matches the full compound profile of the hemp plant including trace amounts of THC.  It has all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids including THC from Delta 8 in the amount of 0.3% or less.  Some experience a greater healing effect from the Full Spectrum product versus Broad Spectrum due to the trace amount of THC.  This amount of THC is far less than what is required to create a psychoactive effect.

What is Delta 8?

Delta 8 is comparable to Delta 9.  Delta 8 and Delta 9 are double bond chemical compounds with similar molecular structures, but the bonds take place in different locations.  The bond for Delta 8 takes place at the 8th carbon chain and Delta 9 at the 9th carbon chain.  The difference in location of the bond makes their cognitive and physical effects different.

The psychoactive effect or “high” felt from Delta 9, and the aftereffects are stronger than Delta 8.  Anecdotal evidence and some research suggest that Delta 9 is about one half to two thirds stronger than Delta 8, leading many to use Delta 8 to get the healing benefits of Delta 9 while minimizing undesirable aftereffects.

What are the side effects?

Whether or not you experience side effects can depend on the amount of CBD you ingest, your age, your weight, any health conditions you may have, any medication you may be taking, and environmental factors.

The most commonly reported side effects are feeling tired, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, and changes in weight.

Is Delta 8 legal?

Delta 8 is federally legal in all 50 states but in varying degrees.  Check the laws concerning CBD and Delta 8 in the state where you live prior to purchase.  CBD legislation is subject to change as Congress and State Legislatures become more aware of the latest science regarding its benefits.  It is a good idea to stay aware of the latest legislative changes in your state going forward as acceptance of CBD evolves.  One good source for that is the US Hemp Roundtable website.   https://hempsupporter.com/

What is Delta 8 1:1?

Delta 8 1:1 is the BioEase product that contains the legal limit of THC.  The product contains equal parts of CBD distillate with no THC, and THC distillate.  This product is suited for those who are seeking to experience the greater healing properties of Delta 8 and stay within the legal limit of THC.  The legal limit for THC is 0.3%.   Some experience a greater healing effect than Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum CBD because of the increased amount of THC.

How long does it take for CBD to take effect?

CBD tinctures/oil placed under the tongue take effect quickly, about 5 to 10 minutes, because the oil is absorbed into the bloodstream and does not have to pass through the digestive system.  The effects can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours.

CBD lotions, creams and salves are massaged directly into areas of the body that are sore or are inflamed.  Relief comes in a matter of minutes and can last for several hours.

Who should avoid taking CBD?

Children and women who are pregnant or breast feeding should avoid taking CBD.  Individuals who have an existing medical condition or are taking medications should speak with their physicians prior to taking CBD.

Can CBD cause me to fail a drug test?

Yes.  CBD is considered a supplement and is not regulated by the FDA.  It is possible that even CBD isolates or Broad Spectrum could become cross contaminated due to poor manufacturing processes and contain THC, even though it is not mentioned on the label.

Which BioEase products should I use?

BioEase CBD tinctures/oils help address overall wellness, insomnia and emotional distress.

BioEase salves and pain cream provide relief for muscle and joint soreness, discomfort and inflammation.

BioEase Lip Balm provides relief for chapped and sore lips.

Gummies help address overall wellness, insomnia and emotional distress in a slower release mechanism via the digestive tract. Gummies are popular among people who prefer eating a small gummy to taking CBD oil under their tongue.

Bath Salts are a useful addition to the health and relaxation benefits available in warm or hot bath.

Massage Lotion and Massage contain less CBD per fluid ounce than a pain cream or salve, and is suitable to be used in a larger quantity and or on a larger amount of the body. These products are popular with massage therapists as the CBD enhances the relaxation and pain relief their clients get from their massage.

Is it safe to combine products?

Yes. Taking CBD oil and CBD salve or pain cream together can provide two pain relief methods.  The oil can relieve internal inflammation while the salve or pain cream applied topically can provide relief to a specific joint or muscle.
